Program Offering
Bachelor of Science in Meteorology
The Bachelor of Science in Meteorology program is designed for students who can explain, understand, observe, and forecast Earth’s atmospheric phenomena using scientific principles and relating its influence on human and the society. The BS in Meteorology program will provide graduates a wide range of career opportunities in the national weather bureau (the DOST-PAGASA), weather broadcasting, disaster risk reduction and management, businesses and industries with weather-sensitive operations such as aviation, marine navigation, power and oil exploration, military, and research in the field of weather forecasting, oceanography, climate studies, agriculture, forest, and environment.
Program Outcomes
Graduates should be able to:
1. Demonstrate broad and coherent knowledge and understanding in the core areas of physical and natural science.
2. Carry out basic mathematical and statistical computations and use appropriate technologies in the analysis of data.
3. Interpret relevant scientific data and make judgments that include reflection on relecant scientific and ethical issues.
4. Communicate information, ideas, problems and solutions, both orally and in writing, to other scientists, decision makers and the public.
5. Design and perform safe and responsible technique and procedures in laboratory or field practices.
6. Explain, understand, observe or forecast atmospheric phenomena using scientific principles and relate how the atmosphere affects the earth and the life on the planet.
7. Manipulate state-of-the-art meteorological equipment, design model and forecast weather disturbances, manage and visualize ground and satellite-based data and develop scientific output.
8. Model accurate predictions and develop early warning system for weather-related hazards that aid disaster risk reduction, resiliency and prevention.
9. Practice the profession ethically and responsibly.
